Sherway Hive – House Rules
Please note that house rules can change from time to time. You should regularly check the current rules in effect displayed on premise.
Hours of work are 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday to Friday and 6:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Saturday. After 6:00 P.M. (3:00 P.M. on Saturday) space is used for private events. If there is no event booked you are welcome to stay after hours, however if there is an event booked please vacate the premises by the closing hours. You can check the event schedule on-line at hivers.ca
When speaking on the phone, please adjust the volume of your voice. Please use the privacy booths or conference rooms, when unoccupied, for your calls whenever possible, especially if you have to do a lot of talking. We suggest you put your cell phone on vibrate mode whenever possible
Please use discretion when engaging people in conversations. Though Sherway Hive is an interesting place to collaborate with smart, creative people and spark new ideas, it is also a place where people need to work. If someone looks to be busy please do not disturb them.
You are welcome to use the conference room, if unoccupied, to have a call or a quick conversation on a first come, first served basis. To use the conference rooms for meetings you must book them through online scheduling. Please vacate the conference rooms at the end of your booking promptly, especially if there is another group waiting.
Kitchenette is for everyone’s use. Please keep it clean and tidy. You are welcome to label any food and beverage containers that you re-use. Please make sure to empty your items from the refrigerator by end of the day Friday as all remaining items will be thrown out. Please recycle
Please be considerate when bringing food on-premise. Aroma from food can easily spread throughout the premise and make it unpleasant for everyone. We are lucky to be in a location where there are tens of restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk as well as a large food court in Sherway Gardens.
Please be considerate of other members when using perfumes or other scents. Any overpowering smells can cause migraines in other members and should be avoided whenever possible
Our space is for working. It’s fine to show non-members around, but this isn’t the place for members to hang out with friends or non-members to poach some free Wi-Fi. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood for such a thing.
Please do not bring your furniture or hang anything on walls unless you have explicit permission from the Hive manager
Please do not move the furniture around in the common area or conference rooms without getting approval from the Hive manager.
Please do not tamper with thermostats. If you feel it is too cold or too hot please speak to the Hive manager. We will attempt to adjust the temperature to suit everyone’s preference but that may not always be possible. Please note that personal heaters are not allowed on premises
Leave no trace. Clean up after yourself. Don’t leave trash and clutter. You’re welcome to spread out while you’re working, but please leave the space even better than you found it.
You break it; you buy it. Take good care of everything in the space, and in case of an accidental spillage or breakage, then it’s up to you to make things right.
Although we are very fond of pets they are not allowed on the premises at any time
Parking is free. If there is not enough space in front of the building you are welcome to park anywhere west of North Queen and north of Queensway as the land belongs to our landlord.
